Joint Syndicate of the Chauvet Cave Reproduction Area – Pont d’Arc
The SMERGC is a public organization made up of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region and the Ardèche Department.
As the owner of the Chauvet Cave 2 site, a replica of the Chauvet Cave-Pont d’Arc, which they designed and built, they are responsible for monitoring the operation entrusted by delegation to company Kleber Roussillon.
Through various mediation and communication projects, they contribute to the enhancement and appropriation of the heritage value of the Chauvet Cave – Pont d’Arc by the greatest number.
They led the registration of the cave on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014 and they co-animate the governing authorities of the process with the services of the State. They therefore develop and oversee the proper implementation of the associated territorial management plan.
